Dylan H. Jones, a local writer, actor and composer will present a workshop of his new musical Jonesing at the small theater in the Manatee School For the Arts, 700 Haben Blvd. Palmetto, Florida. Performances will take place November 15, 16 and 17 beginning at 7:30 pm. On November 18 there is a matinee at 1:30 pm. Tickets are sold at the door, adults $12.00, seniors and students $8.00.
As Dylan explains: “It’s different from traditional musicals because it’s sung, entirely, without hardly any dialogue, but without a definitive plot, either. Each song stands on its own, and tells a unique story.” After each performance the audience will be able to provide feedback about what they liked and didn’t like.
“This is a rare and vital opportunity for audiences to participate in the growth of a new musical. Theatre Odyssey is pleased to support this project,” remarked Catherine Randazzo, President of Theatre Odyssey. Dylan elaborated: “As a workshop there are no costumes or sets; it’s more like a concert. I really want to know what the audience thinks about the music and the lyrics, the heart of the show.”
The cast includes Gabbie Boyer, Eric Hollaway, Meg Newsome, Michael Ridgewell, Travis Rogers, Anna Trinci , and Channing Weir. The Musical Director is Aaron Cassette. For more information and sneak peeks inside the show visit: www.jonesingthemusical.com.
