PURPOSE: To provide area students with the opportunity to work with professional playwrights to develop their playwriting skills
FEE: All fees will be covered by Theatre Odyssey
INSTRUCTORS: Jeffery Kin and Bernard Yanelli
Jeffery Kin has coordinated The Players New Play Festival for the last fifteen years. Each year this signature event provides area playwrights with opportunities to have their works produced and for them to receive support and coaching as they develop their craft. Jeffrey is also a playwright with several plays produced nationally and locally as well as two short plays that were produced internationally. He enjoys teaching, cheering-on and focusing playwrights on the do’s and don’ts of playwriting.
Bernie Yanelli is a history teacher at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School in Bradenton, where he lives with his wife Marlene. His first three full length plays – “Casting Shadows”, “Undaunted,” and “Not Our Time” – have won Best Drama Awards and have been produced by the Players Theatre in Sarasota. In addition, Bernie has had seven ten-minute plays produced by Theatre Odyssey.
